Under the auspices and presence of Prof. Dr./ Ashraf Al-Shehhi, President of Zagazig University and a large number of the faculty members by an invitation from the development projects management unit and the Office of Innovation and Technology Transfer at the University of Zagazig, a delegation from the European Commission in Egypt consists of Dr./ Heba Jaber, Director of scientific research and innovation, Eng./ Karim Hamdi, National TEMPUS Office and Mr./ Karim Abd El-Moneim, Manager of Innovation and Development Project visited the University of Zagazig on Monday, January 6, 2014. The guests highlight the new image of the European Union projects that start from 2014 until the end of 2020, which aims to put Europe in the first rank globally in terms of scientific research, innovation and education so the participation of Egypt in these projects bring in general benefit in the previous areas which will lead in the end to improve the quality and production in all areas of life. The faculty members at the University of Zagazig with their peers in the Egyptian universities seek to contribute to these projects in order to serve the university and the community to prompt the national interests in Egypt.

These projects are open to the Mediterranean south countries as a beneficiary partner of funding, despite not being members of the European Union and thus it represents a great opportunity for Egypt to develop the system of Higher Education, Scientific Research and the system of innovation and creativity in all aspects of productivity life through contact, cooperation and exchange of experiences with scientific and research institutions with sophisticated global level, it is expected that the revenues of these projects will prompt the levels of higher education and the outputs of the scientific research , which solves the problems of society and gives it an advantage in the field of production, economic and social progress.

The objectives of this presentation day can be summarized in the following:

1 - Presenting the European projects and to make Zagazig University as a model to build an integrated knowledge society to prompt the process of development, research, education and innovation.

2 - Discussing the strategies of the European projects and how to take advantage of it in the planning of local projects, as well as take advantage of the available opportunities to contribute to the treatment of some of the local and global problems.

3 - Discussing the promotion of the common cooperation ways between the European Union, the university and the exchange of experiences and knowledge to bring in general benefit on the outputs of higher education, scientific research and innovation system.

A committee will be formed to formulate and write final recommendations and proposals to take advantage of the European projects, headed by Prof.Dr./ Mahmoud Zaki Stouhy, Executive Director of the Development Projects Management Unit and Chief of the team of Innovation and Technology Transfer Office at Zagazig University. Also the faculty members will search in opportunities to participate in research , educational or innovative projects with partners from European and Egyptian universities and research centers, also these projects encourage correlation between universities and industry, both at the local and global level through common work in research, training and innovation.
